Welcome to the newest version of Monitor Process (version 2.0).
Thanx for the ideas some of the ideas people sent after using v1.2. I have incorporated some of the changes, but not all (you know...time contraints).
The major changes to this version are these:
Ñ More preferences, they're self explanatory.
Ñ Apple Events support.
Ñ Balloon Help.
Ñ A lot of little changes, including double-clicking on an app to bring it forward.
Instructions:
This program keeps track of the processes (applications) that are currently running on your Macintosh under System 7 (or better someday). This program will not work with system software versions earlier than System 7. There are a few features to let you play with the processes. You can get information about a process or select a process and choose to bring that application to the front (just like the Application Menu in the menu bar). If an application supports Apple Events (IAC) you can select the application and tell it to quit (this is kinda fun). Other than that, it really just sits there and does its thing. For particulars, see Balloon Help. I have run this program on a variety of Mac II's, but no regular Mac's. If anyone has problems running the program (other than they don't have System 7) let me know.
Again, if there are suggestions to add to this, let me know. I will be putting some other features in for a later version (to be released not too soon!). This is the version
I wanted to release in the first place, but I wanted to just get a version out the door first to get ideas (hence v1.2).
Two items I will put into the next version is application icons (like "About Macintosh...") and networked Apple Events. With networked Apple Events, you will be able to quit the Finder on your friends machine! I can't seem to get it to work yet (though I don't know why), so that code doesn't exist here.
Now that double clicking works, I find it quicker to leave this window in site and double-click to bring an app forward instead of using the Application Menu in the menu bar. To test the Apple Events "Quit", make a copy of Monitor Process and

P.S. Oh, to give credit where credit is due, I got the idea for this program in the first place by a program called "Task-It!". I don't use it anymore so I don't remember who wrote it, but it did a similar thing that my program does; I just wanted to write my own and it seemed like a good, simple place to start to play with IM VI.
